Managing Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is at the heart of church operations. The Volunteers module makes it simple for ministry leaders to publish service needs, define shifts, and list required skills for specific tasks.

1. Creating Volunteer Opportunities

Ministry leaders can post open opportunities to coordinate help for church services, community events, or clean-up days.

  • Title and Description: Explain what the role entails (for example, “Welcome Greeter” or “Slide Operator”).
  • Linking to Events or Ministries: Connect the opportunity directly to an upcoming calendar event or a specific ministry department (such as Youth or Hospitality) to streamline coordination.
  • Date and Time: Define the specific date, start time, and end time for the volunteer shift.

2. Capacity & Skills Requirements

To ensure shifts are staffed by the right team members:

  • Skills Matching: You can tag opportunities with specific skills (e.g., “First Aid”, “AV Setup”, or “Driving”). The system matches these tags with the skills listed on volunteer profiles.
  • Volunteer Limits:
    • Minimum Volunteers: The threshold needed for the shift to run.
    • Maximum Volunteers: The limit of helpers needed. Once this number is reached, the opportunity is automatically marked as filled, preventing over-scheduling.
  • Background Check Clearance: For safety, youth and children’s roles can be restricted to volunteers who have passed background check verifications.
