Transactional Emails & Unsubscribing
Kononia sends transactional email updates to ensure members receive important receipts, invitations, and administrative notifications reliably.
1. Types of Transactional Emails
The system sends automated messages for specific triggers:
- Invitations & Onboarding: Dispatched when an administrator invites you to join a parish or creates a new login profile.
- Giving Receipts & Statements: Sent immediately after you make a donation online or when year-end tax statements are generated.
- Volunteer Rosters: Reminders and schedule summaries sent when you are assigned to shifts.
- Account Actions: Security emails, including password reset links and login confirmation requests.
2. Deliverability & Suppression List
To protect email delivery rates and respect member preferences, the system maintains a suppression list:
- Bounces: If an email address is invalid or fails to receive messages multiple times, the system flags the address as “bounced” and suspends subsequent outgoing emails to that address.
- Complaints: If a user marks a message as spam, their address is suppressed automatically to prevent future dispatches.
- Unsubscribing: Every automated email includes an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking this adds your email to the suppression list for that category of messages.
3. Managing Subscriptions
If you are not receiving emails:
- Check your Spam / Junk folder.
- Log in to Kononia and verify your email is entered correctly under Profile Settings.
- Under Notification Preferences, verify that email delivery options are toggled on.
- If you unsubscribed by mistake and need to start receiving receipts again, contact your church administrator to have your email address removed from the suppression log.
