Direct Messages & Chat Channels
Kononia features a secure messaging platform that allows members, servants, and priests to chat directly within the app, replacing external chat apps and keeping communications centralized.
1. Starting Conversations
You can message individuals or organize group discussions:
- Direct Messages (1:1): Find and message any member of your parish directory. Perfect for asking questions, coordinating service times, or requesting spiritual guidance.
- Group Channels: Create group chats for specific ministry teams, committees, or small groups. You can customize the channel title and add or remove participants at any time.
2. Real-Time Chat Features
- Instant Delivery: Messages sync in real-time, appearing on your screen instantly.
- Read Receipts: The chat view displays visual ticks indicating when your message has been delivered and read by participants.
- Unread Badges: A counter on the sidebar displays your total unread message count across all conversations.
3. Privacy & Security
Your conversations are private and protected:
- Participant Access Only: Only users added as participants can view or send messages in a conversation. Administrators and priests cannot inspect private messages unless they are explicitly added to the chat.
- Isolated Directory: Members can only search and message individuals registered in their active church, preventing cross-organization contact leakage.
