Diocesan Hierarchy & Multi-Parish Connection

Kononia is designed to grow with your church community. Whether you are managing a single local parish, a regional deanery, or an entire diocese, our hierarchical organization structure keeps everyone aligned while respecting local parish independence.

1. Diocesan and Parish Hierarchy

The platform supports a structured, multi-level parent-child relationship that models traditional church administration:

  • Diocese Level: The overarching administrative body representing a bishop or metropolitan. A diocese sets general guidelines, distributes announcements, and runs cross-parish reports.
  • Deanery Level: An optional regional grouping of multiple parishes within a diocese to coordinate local operations and joint events.
  • Parish Level: The local church where daily services, membership directories, and sacraments are managed. Parishes maintain their own local database, budget, and leadership rosters.

2. Linking Codes for Multi-Tenant Connection

Connecting a local parish to a diocese is simple and secure:

  • Invitation-Style Linking Codes: Diocesan administrators generate unique, secure linking codes for each parish.
  • Self-Service Onboarding: The local parish administrator enters the code in their settings console to establish the connection instantly.
  • Data Sharing Controls: Linking a parish allows the diocese to request statistical reports, but local member privacy settings and details remain securely protected.

3. Directory and Settings Flow

Once connected, data and settings flow naturally through the hierarchy:

  • Inherited Diocesan Policies: The diocese can publish uniform guidelines, safety standards, or liturgy selections that are instantly available to all child parishes.
  • Isolated Directory Views: Parishes only view their own directories and members. The diocese can access aggregated directory metrics but cannot access private contact details without explicit parish permissions.
  • Hierarchical Access Levels: Diocesan staff can be granted view-only or manager access to specific parishes to help support local administrators.
